Restaurant Health Score
14 questions drawn from a 40-year veteran's performance analysis framework. Get a scored read on your restaurant's financial health, operational stability, and exit risk.
What This Tool Measures
The Restaurant Health Score evaluates three dimensions: financial performance (prime cost, cash runway, rent-to-revenue ratio, owner compensation), operational health (QSC scores, menu complexity, labor scheduling, vendor relationships), and owner engagement (burnout indicators, decision clarity, support systems). Each dimension is scored separately so you can see where the problem actually is.
How to Interpret Your Score
- 70-100: Healthy. The business has real problems but they are manageable with a specific plan.
- 40-69: Gray zone. Some dimensions are strong, others are in trouble. The mix matters.
- Under 40: At risk. Multiple structural problems. The window for a good exit is closing.
What to Do With Your Score
If your financial score is low but your operational and engagement scores are high, you have a fixable business with a cost structure problem. If all three scores are low, you have a structural problem that a better month will not solve. If your financial and operational scores are strong but your engagement score is low, that is a burnout pattern -- the business may be fine, but you are not.
